Université de Limoges


At the heart of Europe, the University of Limoges  is a major multidisciplinary higher education establishment set in an ideal environment for scientific fulfilment. The University of Limoges is a major center of higher education, training and research. It counts with 14,000 students (14% international), over 1,000 teachers and researchers in 24 research units and approaching 670 PhD students within 8 Doctoral Schools. Unilim is very active at International and European level both in education and research area.

Limoges is internationally known for its activity in Ceramics. Higher education and leading research laboratories in ceramic materials are gathered in a unique site in Europe “The European Ceramics Centre”. It is located in Limoges, at the heart of a technology and research park specializing in research and development of cutting-edge ceramic fields. It hosts more than 450 professors, assistant professors, CNRS scientists, engineers, technicians, post-doctoral fellows, doctoral students, and undergraduate students. The Faculty of Sciences and Techniques offers unique degree programmes in France specialized in ceramics in direct contact with centers and technology transfer and research and development of many local, national and international companies. SPCTS laboratory is one of the main actors of the Ceramic competitiveness cluster and is partner, with XLIM laboratory, of the Laboratory of Excellence (LabEx) Σ_Lim “From specific ceramic materials and components to integrated, secured and intelligent communication systems”.

EUCERMAT is led and coordinated by Gilles Trolliard, Professor at University of Limoges and researcher at the Science des Procédés Céramiques et de Traitements de Suface (SPCTS) laboratory UMR 7315.

In EUCERMAT, the University of Limoges is in charge of the Project management and the implementation of the activities, and also of the Joint Master.
