Universidade de Aveiro


The University of Aveiro  is among the most dynamic and innovative universities in Portugal. The UAVR has 15000 students (graduate and postgraduate) and a unique model of governance (16 Departments, 4 Polytechnic Schools and various training centres).

R&D activities at University of Aveiro are organised in research units and associated laboratories. R&D on Materials Science and Technology are the core activity of the associate laboratory CICECO, Centre for Research in Ceramics and Composite Materials of University of Aveiro. The University of Aveiro, namely the Department of Materials and Ceramics Engineering (DEMaC), has a recognized track record in the practices to promote ceramic science within the community. On a regular basis, DEMaC organizes activities for dissemination of science and technology towards High School students, teachers and the community in general.

The representative for University of Aveiro is Dr. Paula Vilarinho, Associate Professor at University of Aveiro since 2000 and member of CICECO. She is the leader of the Electroceramics Group.

In EUCERMAT, the University of Aveiro is in charge of the workpackage about Innovating practices to promote ceramic sciences.
