The CSIC – Spain – has a multidisciplinary and multisectorial nature, with 123 institutes and more than 11000 workers. Instituto de Cerámica y Vidrio (ICV) is the only structure in Spain with long term activity programs on the whole range of ceramic materials and glasses, with 120 workers (40 researchers, 64 technical, 20 administrative).

The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) is the largest public institution dedicated to research in Spain and the third largest in Europe. Belonging to the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness through the Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation, its main objective is to develop and promote research that will help bring about scientific and technological progress, and it is prepared to collaborate with Spanish and foreign entities in order to achieve this aim. Instituto de Cerámica y Vidrio (Institute of Ceramics and Glass-ICV) is one of the 8 CSIC institutes dedicated to materials science and technology. ICV is the only structure in Spain with long term activity programs on the whole range of ceramic materials and glasses. 

The representative for ICV is Dr. Carmen Baudin, researcher specialised in establishment of the existing relationships between processing, microstructure and mechanical behaviour.
